Phenotype

rss line 5A; reduced sensitivity to salt (NaCl) and osmotic stress during germination, tolerating approximately 150mM higher concentrations of NaCl and about 250 mM higher concentrations of sorbitol in the media; reduced sensitivity to Na, Rb, K and Cs; plantlets accumulate proline to a significantly lesser degree than WT when they are exposed to either salt or osmotic stress; rss mutation does not alter ABA sensitivity.
